Sandara Park, Apl.de.Ap discuss the making of ‘2 Proud’ MV

Singer and actress Sandara Park along with rapper and producer Apl.de.Ap have revealed a few details behind the production of the music video for their recent collaboration, “2 Proud.”

In a series of posts on X, Sandara talked about how she did not have much screen time in the music video despite closely collaborating with the rapper. She said that this was because they worked on it in 2020, right when the pandemic began and borders had been closed to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

Sandara said that Apl.de.Ap had asked her to record the song and shoot the music video with him in Los Angeles. While she was extremely excited at the time, she could not leave the country, much to her dismay.

“So I had no choice but to record it in Korea and shoot the video in a chroma key and send them to [Apl.de.Ap]. And that’s how we made this music!!!” the singer said further.

In the music video, Sandara’s appearances were limited to a few frames of her donning a sparkly silver dress with her short hair curled to give off a vintage look while she sang and danced in an old TV set.

Sandara also said that it was not an easy process to make the song but she hoped that her fans would come to like it just as she does.

In a separate post by Apl.de.Ap, he revealed that the two of them had been wanting to collaborate for a long time.

“@krungy21 and I have wanted to work together for years. We had been kicking around songs that could possibly work, and wouldn’t you know, during the pandemic we finally got the track. I love it and I hope you do too,” the rapper said.

Apl.de.Ap had also reposted Sandara’s post on his X account and replied to it by saying that the two of them needed to perform the song soon, with the two of them taking the chance to ask their fans where they should do so.

“2 Proud” serves as the first collaboration between the two artists. Its music video was directed by Ben Mor, who had also worked on several music videos for Apl.de.Ap’s musical group, Black Eyed Peas as well as other artists like Katy Perry, Britney Spears, John Legend, and NAS.
