Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman is in Legazpi City, Albay today to discuss best practices, strategies, and other relevant government programs with key officials of her department at the local level in a regional coordination meeting (RCM).
Among the topics expected to be discussed include the full devolution initiative, the national government rightsizing program, capacity-building measures for local government units (LGUs) and local budget officers, plans for digitalization, modernizing the procurement system, and the Philippine Open Government Partnership.
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has been trying to implement “transformative reforms” aimed at improving government “fiscal responsibility, accountability, transparency, and good governance.”
The RCM is a quarterly activity of the DBM where budget best practices and strategies, development priorities, as well as how to enhance coordination and cooperation for more efficient financial governance are expected to be dealt with.
It also serves as a forum for addressing current and unresolved concerns brought up by the agency’s regional offices.
Pangandaman arrived in Legazpi City on Thursday to personally supervise and challenge her regional officials with the goal of speeding up the latest initiatives of the agency. Officials of the Ako Bicol party-list in the region welcomed the DBM chief at the Bicol International Airport in Daraga, Albay.
