The Taguig City government has organized a special orientation program for local Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) leaders.
Dubbed Adolescent Health and Development Program (AHDP), the project aims to equip young leaders with the knowledge and strategies to improve their reproductive and sexual health conditions.
The program was launched recently at the Kalayaan Hall, Taguig Satellite Office in Bonifacio Global City.
Experts from the Commission on Population and Development of the National Capital Region (CPD-NCR) provided vital information on adolescent health challenges, focusing on youths aged 10-19. The AHDP Medical Coordinator discussed the program’s targets and the importance of addressing emerging adolescent health issues.
The chairman of the city’s Committee on Health, councilor Rodil Marcelino, and the chairman of the Committee on Social Welfare, Community Development, Population, and Migration, councilor Jomil Bryan Serna showed their support and acknowledged the importance of the orientation in raising awareness and educating the youth.
The event emphasized the need for peer educators and community-based health initiatives.
The SK leaders were urged to apply what they learned to develop comprehensive healthcare services for adolescents in Taguig, supporting the city’s vision of becoming a Transformative, Lively, and Caring community.
The orientation was a collaboration between the City Health Office, the Local Youth Development Office, and the Commission on Population and Development of the National Capital Region.
The organizers thanked the SK leaders for their commitment to promoting health education and initiatives aimed at preventing teenage pregnancy and improving adolescent health.
