Following the Metro Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) recent announcement regarding the prohibition of certain vehicles on national, circumferential, and radial roads in Metro Manila, Gogoro Philippines seeks to provide clarity regarding its e-motorcycles and their compliance with road regulations.
The MMDA’s Regulation No. 24-022 series of 2024 stated that e-bikes, e-trikes, tricycles, pedicabs, pushcarts, and kuligligs are not allowed to travel on specified roads in Metro Manila. However, Gogoro Philippines wishes to emphasize that their Gogoro SuperSport, Gogoro Delight, and Gogoro S2 Premium models fall under the Category L3 e-motorcycle classification.
Category L3 e-motorcycles are two-wheeled vehicles capable of reaching speeds exceeding 50 km/hr. In accordance with the Land Transportation Office’s Administrative Order No. 2021-0039, these vehicles require proper LTO registration and a valid driver’s license to operate. Importantly, Category L3 e-motorcycles, including Gogoro models, are permitted to travel on all types of roads, including national, circumferential, and radial roads, with the exception of limited access highways such as expressways.
Gogoro Philippines reaffirms its commitment to promoting road safety and compliance with road rules and regulations, working collaboratively with the MMDA and other national agency partners. By providing accurate information about their e-motorcycles’ classification and adherence to LTO guidelines, Gogoro Philippines aims to ensure that riders are well-informed and can safely enjoy the benefits of electric mobility on the designated road networks in Metro Manila.
