Postal Corp assigns new zip codes for EMBO villages

The Philippine Postal Corporation announced new ZIP (zone improvement plan) codes for the 10 EMBO (Enlisted Men’s Barrio) villages in Taguig City.

The change was made following the final decision of the Supreme Court that these 10 barangays, which were previously under the jurisdiction of Makati City, are now part of Taguig’s territory.

Effective immediately, the following new ZIP codes have been assigned to the said barangays: Cembo (1640), Comembo (1641), Pembo (1642), East Rembo (1643), West Rembo (1644), South Cembo (1645), Pitogo (1646), Post Proper Northside (1647), Post Proper Southside (1648), and Rizal (1649).

The Taguig City government advised residents and businesses in these barangays to “update their postal information to ensure efficient and accurate delivery of mail and packages.”

In the Philippines, a ZIP code is used by the Postal Corporation (Philpost) to simplify the distribution of mail.

In September 2022, the Supreme Court rejected Makati’s Motion for Reconsideration assailing its 2021 decision that ruled that Fort Bonifacio Military Reservation—consisting of parcels 3 and 4, including the 10 EMBO barangays—was part of the territory of Taguig City.

The Court also prohibited Makati City from improving or treating the areas involved as part of its territory.

Taguig City Mayor Laarni Cayetano assured that her administration is prepared to govern the affected communities as she aims to create a transformative, lively, and caring city.

She added that Taguig’s vision is also focusing on making citizens active participants in the city’s progress and creating opportunities for businesses and jobs.
