Swagat Indian resto gets grand upgrade

Swagat, known for its authentic home-style Indian Cuisine, marked its 20th year milestone with the opening of its new and bigger restaurant in Makati City.

Located at the RCI Building along Rada St. in Legazpi Village, Swagat prides itself as authentically Indian with a modern flair, with its merry mix of traditional cuisine, eclectic flavors, and beautiful interiors.

Diners can tickle their taste buds with individual appetizers, kebabs, or the more diverse platters such as the vegetarian starter and the chaat platter – a teaser of street food favorites from New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai.

Lovers of grilled food can feast on non-vegetarian tandoor platter, an assortment of the chef’s handpicked clay oven-cooked specialties such as murgh (chicken), mutton and seafood.

For rice meals, there is the biryani made up fragrant basmati and layered with meat or vegetables marinated in spices, saffron-infused milk, caramelized onions, and aromatic herbs, slow-cooked to perfection in the good old dum style.

The biryani goes best with raita or creamy yogurt combined with assorted fresh vegetables and spices.

Meanwhile, bread eaters will surely enjoy the tandoor-baked naan, roti, and paratha, which they can dip into or pair with their chosen entrée.

A new section of the resto is the bar which concocts the usual Indian beverages, refreshing mocktails, signature cocktails, and the sought-after spirits, which lend Swagat the coziness of a watering hole.

Cap a hearty meal with the Komal ki Kulfi, a cherished popsicle-shaped home-made ice cream, named after the woman behind the resto who meticulously crafted the dessert – Komal Khanchandani.

“With our new store, we want Filipinos to continue experiencing a new level of cultural and healthy gastronomic adventure into the heart of Incredible India. At Swagat, we are honored to have you,” she said.

More than two decades after her foray into the food business, Komal still brims with confidence and pride with her new masterpiece that she boldly poses the same dare to diners since day 1: “Don’t pay if you are not satisfied with the food.”
