Quarry plant in Batangas aligns with city council resolution for enhanced safety

Southern Star Aggregates (SSAI) has stated its commitment to align with the recommendations of the Batangas City Council, as outlined in its recently passed resolution aimed at enhancing the safety of the company’s quarry operations in Lipa City, Batangas.

The resolution is a result of collaborative efforts involving the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP), the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), and other stakeholders. It addresses concerns related to blasting activities at the quarry site.

While consistently adhering to national laws and regulations, SSAI recognizes that the new measures, recommended by the city government, represent an important step in further ensuring the well-being of both the community and the environment.

SSAI has begun implementing changes to bring its quarrying practices in line with the new guidelines. The company employs controlled blasting techniques designed to minimize any impact on the surrounding environment.

To enhance transparency and accountability, the company has engaged a reputable third-party organization to monitor all blasting activities, ensuring strict adherence to the highest safety standards.

Additionally, through its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), SSAI continues to support local initiatives and contribute to community welfare. Its recent efforts include establishing a daycare center, executing a comprehensive feeding program, and participating in typhoon relief efforts, positively impacting hundreds of families.

“We reaffirm our role as a responsible corporate citizen, prioritizing the safety of our surrounding community and the preservation of the environment in all our operations. We value the collaborative efforts of the city council and other stakeholders in this process and are committed to maintaining open communication for ongoing improvement and to meet the needs of the communities around us,” SSAI stated.
