PBBM OKs bonus of up to P20,000 for gov’t workers

President Marcos on Tuesday approved the release of service recognition incentives and gratuity pay up to P20,000 for government workers.

The five-page Administrative Order (AO) no. 12, signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Dec. 7, stated that the President has signed the grant of a one-time service recognition incentive (SRI) of P20,000 for government employees in the executive branch.

Moreover, civilian personnel in national government agencies including those in state universities and colleges (SUCs) and government-owned or controlled corporations (GOCCs) were also qualified for the SRI.

The incentive would also be given to military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), uniformed personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

Personnel from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), the Philippines Coast Guard (PCG), and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resource (DENR) were also qualified for incentives.

Section 2 of the AO stated that the SRI is granted to civilian personnel occupying regular, contractual, or casual positions; personnel who are still in government service as of November 30, 2023; and personnel who rendered at least four months of satisfactory service.

The Official Gazette provides a comprehensive list of qualifications for receiving the SRI, as well as a list of personnel eligible for the one-time incentive.

President Marcos also signed AO No. 13, which also grants a one-time gratuity pay of up to P5,000 for the contract of service (COS) and job order (JO) government employees who have rendered at least four months of satisfactory service as of Dec. 15, and whose contracts remain effective as of that date.

The order specifies that COS and JOs of national government agencies, state universities and colleges, government-owned or -controlled corporations, and local water districts are eligible for the P5,000 gratuity pay.

The Official Gazette contains a complete list of qualified personnel.

Both payments, the P20,000 SRI and the P5,000 gratuity pay will be given no earlier than Dec. 15 to all eligible employees.
