PCKF athletes lead Pinoy strong 100 qualifiers

Athletes from Philippine Canoe Kayak Federation (PCKDF) led the top finishers in the national athletes selection for the Pinoy Strong 100 on Friday held at the Skyranch in Tagaytay City.

Jobert Penaranda and Ojay Fuentes made it a 1-2 finish for the national paddlers while Mylene Matias of Kurash came in at third and placing fourth was Roger Kenneth Masbate, also from PCKDF.

Sixty aspirants from judo, obstacle sports, taekwondo, muay thai, kurash, wrestling and canoe-kayak-dragonboat completed four tasks that included burpees, dumbbell thrusters, medicine ball throws anr pull-ups.

But only 20 made the cut for the nationwide contest that aims to gather the top 100 that will vie for top honors in the reality TV show next year.

“We want to identify the strongest, and by that, we mean not just power and stamina but also mental toughness,” said MMA star and co-producer Mark Striegl.

The Pinoy Strong 100, which aims to showcase the Filipinos’ power and resilience, is organized by One of Kind Asia in collaboration with Striegl, one of the most renowned Filipino MMA stars.

The selection leg that gathered the national athletes, held in coordination with Philippine Olympic Committee headed by president Abraham Bambol Tolentino, served as the a special leg before the activations in Cebu and finally at BGC in Taguig.

“Pinoy Strong 100 aims to celebrate the rich diversity of the Filipino people, featuring individuals from different backgrounds, colors, ages, and social statuses,” said Tin Majadillas of One of A Kind Asia.

“The participants will be put through grueling challenges, infused with a distinctly Filipino flavor, to test their strength, endurance, and character. Through these challenges, the campaign will demonstrate the unique qualities and unwavering strength that define the Filipino spirit.”
