The Embassy of France in the Philippines and SM Supermalls recently hosted a Charity Gala Dinner at Lanson Place, SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, in observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Children.
The gala aimed to raise awareness and support for Cameleon Association’s work in protecting women and girls from violence over the last 26 years, and celebrated the resilience and courage of its members.
Acclaimed French actress Emmanuelle Beart joined SM Supermalls President Steven Tan, French Ambassador Marie Fontanel, Cameleon Association Founder Laurence Ligier, and Elizabeth Sy, president and chairman of SM Hotels and Conventions Corp., as they congratulated members of the Cirquera de Cameleon troupe after a moving performance at the Charity Gala Dinner.
Beart, renowned for her roles in French cinema, was in Manila to officially open the 26th French Film Festival and the premiere of her documentary, Un Silence Si Bruyant (Such a Resounding Silence).
The film serves as a powerful statement against violence towards women and children, and is one of the highlights of this year’s French Film Festival ongoing at the SM Mall of Asia and SM Megamall cinemas until Dec. 3.
