Partners with Santa Rosa and Pasay cities to ease commuting through digitalization
Toyota Motor Philippines unveiled its Toyota Community Shuttle (TCS) program through a ‘libreng sakay’ (free ride) initiative in partnership with the City Government of Pasay and the City Government of Santa Rosa.
In separate agreements inked with the two city governments, five (5) state-of-the-art and air-conditioned Toyota Lite Ace units traversed dynamic routes within each city, operating from 06:00 AM to 06:00 PM. Commencing on December 1, 2023, in Santa Rosa City and December 2, 2023, in Pasay City, the TCS aimed to provide complimentary rides for a year.
“As part of the Company’s corporate social responsibility and in commemoration of TMP’s 35th anniversary, the TCS aimed to demonstrate how Toyota could contribute to improving the Filipinos’ day-to-day mobility in these communities,” stated TMP president Atsuhiro Okamoto.
Additionally, the TCS sought to deliver practical benefits through Toyota’s new mobility solutions, utilizing the ‘myTOYOTA Shuttle PH,’ a flagship service platform from TMP’s mobility service arm, Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines, Inc. (TMSPH). This platform enabled efficient on-demand shuttle management, streamlining route planning and seat booking processes. Commuters could easily book rides through a downloadable mobile application, monitor real-time vehicle locations, and check arrival times.
These partnerships with the dynamic cities of Santa Rosa and Pasay enhanced TCS’s future applications, gathering insights from diverse user groups, including the working class, students, mall- and entertainment-goers, and tourists.
Santa Rosa City, known for its significant manufacturing industries and hosting major export-processing zones like the Toyota Special Economic Zone, and Pasay City, a highly urbanized area boasting one of the country’s largest shopping, entertainment, and business centers, benefited from this initiative.
Celebrating its 35th year of incorporation in August 2023, TMP reaffirmed its commitment to economic and societal development through its automotive manufacturing and distribution business and mobility-related services.
Globally, Toyota envisioned diversified and innovative solutions with a focus on the “Connected, Autonomous/Automated, Shared, and Electrified” or “CASE” concepts of future mobility.
