TNT tries to add 6th leg to 3×3 title harvest

All teams go for broke on Monday as the PBA 3×3 Second Conference holds its final leg at the Ayala Malls Trinoma.

TNT is eyeing to cap what has been a dominant campaign so far, hoping to add Leg 6 to its title collection after winning four out of the five previous legs at stake, including last week when it defeated guest team Pioneer Elastoseal Katibays in the finals, 21-13.

The Tropang Giga are leaving no stone unturned as they retained the same Leg 5 core of Chester Saldua, Ping Exciminiano, Grayann Mendoza, who replaced Samboy de Leon due to illness, and main man Almond Vosotros for the final battle leading to the grand finals.

But the rest of the field are out to stop the TNT juggernaut especially with the tight race for a place in the grand finale also to be determined at the end of the two-day leg stage.

Rookie team MCFASolver has an axe to grind against the Tropang Giga, who denied the Tech Centrale a back-to-back championship after eliminating them in the semifinals a week ago, 21-18.

The guest squad still finished strong though, as it turned back NorthPort for third place, 21-15.

Cavitex, Pioneer Elastoseal, and Terrafirma, the other teams which lost to TNT in the previous legs, are also aching to get back at their tormentor, while Meralco hopes to complete its unfinished business after placing runner up to MCFASolver in the Leg 4 finals.

The other teams, Blackwater Smooth Razor, Purefoods, San Miguel, NorthPort, and Barangay Ginebra are also seeking their first title this conference as they try to boost their respective bids for a berth in the 10-team grand finals.

A P100,000 prize purse awaits the final leg champion.

Bunched in Pool A are TNT, Terrafirma, and Cavitex, while Pioneer Elastoseal joins Meralco, Purefoods, and Blackwater Smooth Razor in Pool B.

MCFASolver, Northport, Barangay Ginebra, and San Miguel bring up the rear in Pool C.
