MR.DIY, the renowned retail brand known for providing affordable and quality products, has embarked on a mission that goes beyond shopping aisles and store shelves. Under the banner of Acts of Kindness (AoK), MR.DIY has extended its goodwill by organizing a two-legged Medical and Optical Mission in two cities of Cavite, in partnership with the respective City Governments and the Red Cross of the Philippines.
MR.DIY & Carmona, Cavite: 1st Leg Medical and Optical Mission
The first leg of the mission was conducted in Brgy. Bancal, Carmona, Cavite, in collaboration with the City Government of Carmona. The event was held on October 12, 2023. Dr. Ally Gatbonton, representing the City Health Office of Carmona, led the charge.
Dr. Ally Gatbonton, City Health Office of Carmona, commented, “We were delighted to partner with MR.DIY for this noble initiative. Their commitment to improving the health and well-being of our community is commendable.”
The mission successfully provided a range of medical and optical services, with a remarkable impact on the community. In total, 450 beneficiaries were attended to, surpassing the initial target of 200 beneficiaries. The breakdown of beneficiaries included 255 in the medical category and 195 in the optical category. These included adults and children who benefited from various services.
Medical services encompassed comprehensive check-ups, lab tests, free medications, X-ray examinations, ECG tests, and even first aid training for local rescue teams and community security volunteers. This comprehensive approach not only addressed existing health concerns but also equipped the local community with essential life-saving skills.
For optical services, comprehensive eye examinations were conducted to assess visual acuity and detect potential eye problems. Free reading glasses were distributed to those in need, significantly enhancing their vision and quality of life.
MR.DIY’s Senior Marketing Manager, Charles Salecina expressed gratitude to the City Government of Carmona and the local community, stating, “We are honored to have partnered with the City Government of Carmona and the wonderful residents of Brgy. Bancal. Together, we have taken a step towards building a healthier and happier community.”
