Palace: No plans for Oct. 31 holiday

Malacañang has no plans to declare Oct. 31 as a holiday, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil said on Tuesday.

Garafil told Palace reporters that “as per [Office of the Executive Secretary],” there is still no plan yet on the said date.

Filipinos were hoping Oct. 31, which falls on a Tuesday, will be declared as such for a longer weekend. The date is preceded by the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) on Oct. 30, while Nov. 1 or All Saints’ Day, and Nov. 2 or All Souls’ Day are special non-working days.

Last year, President Marcos issued a new proclamation revising the list of regular holidays and added a special non-working day – Jan. 2—for 2023.
