Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo Malapitan led the groundbreaking ceremony for the new campus of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) at the Rainbow Village, Deparo on Friday.
Malapitan said the new PUP-Caloocan campus is one of his “pet projects” back when he was still a congressman and reiterated that the said project represents his administration’s commitment to improving the quality of education in the city.
“It is our duty to see to it that everyone will have an easy access to education which is a basic right of every citizen. We believe that PUP-Caloocan will be one of our best instruments to fulfill this responsibility,” he added.
Malapitan also highlighted the positive effects that the new campus will bring to various aspects of city development.
“With PUP rising on this very ground, sigurado ako, magsusulputan na ang mga negosyo at magkakaroon na rin ng dagdag kabuhayan ang mga tao sa lugar na ito. Eksakto din na malapit-lapit sa lokasyon na ito ang mga itatayo nating pabahay para sa mga Batang Kankaloo,” the mayor said.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by key city officials including District 1 Representative Cong. Oscar “Oca” Malapitan, as well as current PUP President Dr. Manuel Muhi.
