CAAP to host Asia-Pacific aviation conference in Cebu next year

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is set to host the 59th Conference of Directors General of Civil Aviation Asia and Pacific Regions (DGCA) in Cebu next year.

Unveiling the theme for the 2024 conference, “Shaping the Future of Air Transport: Sustainable, Resilient, and Inclusive,” CAAP Director General Captain Manuel Antonio Tamayo invited the delegates to join and experience Philippine culture, history, and hospitality.

The DGCA is an annual gathering of aviation directors general in the Asia and Pacific Region, where discussions and side meetings are held on various topics such as aviation safety, security, air navigation, aviation and the environment, and economic development of air transportation.

CAAP represents the country in the international aviation community as a member state of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The Philippines has been elected as Vice-Chair of the recently concluded 58th Conference held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, centered on the theme “Promoting ICAO Gender Equality Programme in conjunction with Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) initiative.”

CAAP has reported the Philippine government’s commitment to gender equality through its Gender and Development Programs, the NGAP-anchored programs of local aviation schools, as well as its own efforts to support and produce aviation technical scholars through its training arm, the Civil Aviation Training Center.
