MORE Electric and Power Corp. is pioneering an innovative zero-emission and fully electric shuttle service to help promote a more sustainable and environment-friendly Iloilo City.
The service amplifies MORE Power’ commitment to bringing green technology to Iloilo. It is in collaboration with SM City Iloilo and aligned with Mayor Jerry Treñas’ endeavors to create a more resilient future for the Ilonggos.
The launch on Sept. 15, 2023 of the SM Iloilo Electric Bus, comprising the first of 10 units, marked a remarkable step in the city’s journey toward eco-conscious mobility.
MORE Power vice president for corporate planning and regulatory affairs Niel Parcon underscored the significance of e-bus service, stating that it represents more than just a mode of transportation.
Parcon said it also symbolizes a new era of mobility characterized by safety, comfort and environmental responsibility.
He said it reflects MORE Power’s unwavering commitment to embracing green technology as a catalyst for positive change.
The membership shuttle service offers an initial route from the City Hall to the Ceres North Bound Terminal, stopping at various SM locations from Monday to Saturday.
Treñas, Parcon and SM City Iloilo mall manager Gilbert Domingo attended the event.
MORE Power president and chief executive Roel Castro said the introduction of electric buses would support the city’s sustainability goals and address the need for more eco-friendly transport alternatives.
He said the partnership with SM City Iloilo aligns perfectly with this vision, marking a harmonious collaboration to benefit Iloilo City.
The e-bus leaves no pollution, contributing to cleaner air, quieter streets and an overall enhancement of urban living conditions.
The project presents a golden opportunity to foster innovation and accelerate the adoption of sustainable transportation solutions throughout the city.
The e-bus was designed with inclusivity in mind, featuring amenities such as ramps and designated seats to ensure accessibility and comfort for all passengers, mainly persons with disabilities.
MORE Power said it expects the arrival of two more e-bus units in October, with seven additional units scheduled to follow by year-end.
Each e-bus represents an investment of P4 million to P4.5 million.
