Local airlines have canceled 22 more flights due to bad weather conditions, the Manila International Airport Authority reported on
Thursday.
Affected by the unfavorable weather condition brought by Typhoon Egay were six Philippine Airlines (PAL) Express flights to and from Laoag
and Basco, and four flights of Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) and its sister airline CebGo going to and from Masbate.
Also suspended on Thursday were 10 flights of Air Swift to and from El Nido and two flights going to and from Romblon.
Eight other PAL flights to and from Laoag scheduled on Friday and Saturday were also suspended, the airline management said.
“For the safety of our passengers, PAL has canceled the following flights, as Typhoon Egay is forecast to affect parts of Luzon over the
next few days,” it stated.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), flight operation at Laoag International Airport is still suspended.
“The damaged portion of the ceiling at the airport’s domestic pre-departure area is still under repair,” said CAAP spokesperson Eric
Apolonio.
PAL also canceled four international flights, also scheduled on Friday (July 28). Canceled were flights PR-330 and PR-331
(Manila-Xiamen-Manila), and flights PR-356 and PR-357 (Manila-Jinjiang-Manila).
“Philippine Airlines will keep a close watch on weather forecasts for the airports we serve in Luzon island and other parts of the
Philippines, in case we need to cancel or adjust other flights and routes,” the PAL management said.
PAL officials urged air travelers to check the status of their trips by logging on to www.philippineairlines.com and clicking the “Flight
Status” icon on the main page, and then “fill in the flight number (without the “PR” or “2P” designation, just the number itself) and
date of departure.”
They added the flight’s status is updated in real-time, and there is no need to call the contact center to verify the information.
“We encourage you to continue monitoring the status of your flight using the Flight Status self-service tool on our website so that we
can keep our contact center hotlines free of congestion.”
