NEA signs agreement with electric co-ops to create Task Force Metro

The National Electrification Administration and Mindanao electric cooperatives and EC associations signed a tripartite agreement to create Task Force Metro to resolve the metering problem in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

NEA administrator Antonio Mariano Almeda, together with the beneficiary ECs and representatives of various regional EC associations, signed the agreement at HES Auditorium, NEA Building,  Quezon City on July 5.

Under the agreement, a number of EC regional organizations will provide a total of 67,300 units of kilowatt-hour meters to the Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative Inc., Maguindanao Electric Cooperative Inc. , Sulu Electric Cooperative Inc.,  Tawi-Tawi Electric Cooperative Inc. and Basilan Electric Cooperative Inc.

LASURECO will receive 42,300 meters from the Association of Southern Tagalog Electric Cooperatives IV-A , Central Luzon Electric Cooperatives Association, Central  Visayas Electric Cooperatives Association, Caraga Rural Electric Cooperatives  Association and Electric Cooperatives Association of Region VI.

MAGELCO will acquire 19,000 meters from CEVECA and the Federation of Rural Electric Cooperatives in Region 8, while SULECO, TAWELCO and BASELCO will each receive 2,000 units from CEVECA.

Almeda thanked the EC donors for providing a helping hand to those in need as he witnessed the proof of brotherhood  within the electric industry.

The Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association and the National Association of General  Managers of Electric Cooperatives were also present during the agreement signing and  assured their full support to Almeda and the agency’s objective of total electrification.
