Film director and Presidential Adviser for Creative Communications Paul Soriano is trending on Twitter as rumors accusing him of meddling in the production of the video for the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) “Love the Philippines” campaign is spreading like wildfire.
The rumors came from a viral Reddit post claiming that supposedly, the newest slogan would be “Love, the Philippines” and that the director was “suddenly involved” after the agency presented their storyboard.
“DDB presented a storyboard. When it was approved, Paul Soriano was suddenly involved [and] he had a production house that he wanted to use,” it stated alluding to the advertising agency’s presentation.
“The creative director and Paul fought about it and the creative direction. So[,] another DDB creative director was asked to take over. But turns out DOT/Paul had already shot and edited the material without the agency,” it continued.
The post also claimed that it was “not the agency’s fault” and the director “should take responsibility” for the issue.
As per writing, Soriano has not issued a statement regarding the accusations.
