PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) makes access to SIM registration easier by joining the Southstar Drug Health Fair in Diliman, Quezon City and in Tagaytay City this month.
To provide SIM registration assistance especially to senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and other customers in populous areas, Smart worked with Southstar Drug to set up SIM registration booths at the Krus na Ligas Covered Court last May 5, and will set up another booth in the Kaybagal South Court in Tagaytay City on May 26, 2023.
“We are doubling our efforts to deploy SIM registration booths all over the country by tapping partners like Southstar Drug, to assist our customers, especially the senior citizens, PWDs, and those using non-data phones who may have a hard time registering their Smart or TNT SIMs on their own. This is a key part of our commitment to not leave anybody behind in SIM Registration, and to help the government implement the law,” said Alex O. Caeg, Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Sales Group at PLDT and Smart.
“We welcome this initiative from Smart, since it is also aligned to our value of helping our customers’ well-being. SIM registration will help protect people from falling victim to scams, and connectivity will help them use the necessary tools to help them keep their health in check, including access to our digital platforms for their pharmaceutical needs,” said Jinky R. Guanlao-AVP, Merchandising, Robinsons Retail Holdings, Drugstore Segment at Southstar drug.
Smart has rolled out thousands of assisted SIM registration booths across the country, extending priority assistance to senior citizens and persons with disabilities, in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), LGUs, malls, schools, and other community partners.
New and existing Smart Prepaid and TNT subscribers may also visit PLDT and Smart stores, or access Smart’s SIM registration portal through https://simreg.smart.com.ph/. Postpaid users, meanwhile, are considered registered using existing account details provided consistent with the SIM Registration Act.
All SIM users are required to register their SIMs by July 25, 2023, according to Republic Act No. 11934 or the Subscriber Identity Module Registration Act.
