During the meeting, the two officials demonstrated their commitment in promoting a conducive business environment, enhancing trade facilitation, and ensuring efficient customs processes within the Port of Subic. They engaged in constructive dialogue, addressing various aspects of customs operations and border protection.

The discussions emphasized the significance of establishing a seamless and transparent system that encourages business growth, attracts investments, and contributes to economic development in the region, while also following and implementing the directives of President Marcos.

Both agencies also expressed appreciation for the positive outcome of the meeting and committed to further enhance their coordination and explore innovative solutions.

“The Port of Subic and the SBMA aim to facilitate trade, promote investment, and establish Subic as a premier business and logistics port in the region,” said Talusan.

Just recently, Talusan and other port officials also met Department of Agriculture – Inspectorate and Enforcement (DA-IE) team headed by Assistant Secretary James Layug.

The meeting provided a platform for enhancing customs procedures and ensuring compliance with agricultural regulations.

The two agencies discussed key areas such as current updates on the importation of agricultural products, regulatory compliance measures, and information sharing mechanisms were discussed.

“We want to enhance efficiency, vigilance, and ensure the smooth flow of goods while safeguarding public health and the environment,” Talusan said.

Talusan believes that active engagement with stakeholders and other government agencies will help in initiating comprehensive streamlining and simplification of processes while maintaining a balance with border protection.

Under the guidance of Commissioner Rubio, the Port of Subic remains committed in strengthening its anti-smuggling and border control operations, ensuring that no illicit trade enters the Port while promoting trade within the freeport zone.
