British brand Marks & Spencer (M&S) successfully launched its Spring 2023 Collection in Glorietta 4 – Ayala Center in Makati City last Friday, March 10.
The brand presented its swimwear lineup for the summer, showcasing a wide selection of swimsuits for women, polo shirts, and quick dry shorts for men. Fabrics for these garments came from recycled nylon or polyester. Moreover, M&S claimed that its Sun Smart UPF50+ technology is used in their swimwear collection, protecting wearers from harmful UV radiation, a vital element with summer fast approaching in the Philippines.
Its (clothing) functionality meets versatility, according to the Marks & Spencer design brief. So, it’s about heritage pieces with a modern British look for the season,” Gretty Singson, M&S Merchandise Manager, said.
M&S also introduced its new lineup of denimwear. For adults, the brand offers a denim collection of jeans, dresses, overshirts, and jumpsuits, which also its cotton-made versions. The brand also has new selections of Oxford shirts and jumpers. There are also selections for children, like pull-on denim cargos to dungarees and cotton-made floral outfits and leggings.
“So, the preppy stripe and, of course, the denim shirt are key lines for the season. The striped shirts are also key (line) and sleeve stripes. You’ll see a lot of detail for Marks & Spencer, and we are now introducing embroidery, a small detail that we didn’t have in the past. It makes it more premium, more Marks & Spencer,” Singson added.
Alarice Francisco, the senior marketing staff of M&S, stated that the company envisions being an establishment free from carbon emissions by 2040. It coincides with the Paris Climate Agreement, which aims to reduce the global warming effect.
Currently, a significant percentage of their carbon footprint traces back to the indirect emissions of their value chain – production and logistics. The remaining forms came from their operations which are direct emissions such as fuel and electricity.
M&S developed a roadmap, a multi-stakeholder plan, which immediately prioritizes certain areas o bring their vision to reality. These initiatives will encourage everyone to get involved in their products, from suppliers to customers. They will also play a role in their plan to reduce their carbon emissions to zero.
