Cavitenos welcomed the candidacy of former Trece Martires City Mayor Jun Sagun, who is running for congressman for the 7th district of the province of Cavite, when the campaign for the special elections kicked off yesterday.
Four candidates — Melencio Loyola De Sagun Jr., Crispin Diego Remulla, Jose Angelito Domingo Aguinaldo, and Michael Angelo Bautista Santos — will compete in the election for the congressional seat vacated by Boying Remulla, who was appointed secretary of the Department of Justice.
Currently, House Speaker Martin Romualdez sits as caretaker of Cavite’s 7th district.
Mayor Sagun launched his congressional bid by visiting four churches from the towns of Tanza, Amadeo, Indang, and Trece Martires City, all constituents of Cavite’s 7th district.
In Comelec’s records, there are currently 355,184 registered voters from 116 barangays in these towns, and their enthusiastic participation in the special election is expected on February 25, Saturday.
The campaign period is scheduled to conclude on February 23, 2023.
