Davao solon’s TUPAD project fulfills promise

The Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte has fulfilled its promise of providing economic assistance to his constituents, particularly during the holiday season.

Records at the congressman’s office showed that residents of 54 barangays in his first legislative district in Davao City have received their cash assistance under the TUPAD program before the year ended.

TUPAD is a community–based package of assistance that offers emergency employment for displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers, for a minimum of 10 days, but not more than 30 days, depending on the nature of work.

Duterte, son of former President Rodrigo Duterte, had instructed his staff to ensure that the cash aids were distributed to the beneficiaries before Christmas.

“With everyone’s effort and cooperation, not only in my office, everyone will feel the happiness this holiday season brings,” Duterte said

“All TUPAD beneficiaries in the first district, who can now physically get together and celebrate the holidays with their families, were able to celebrate Christmas blissfully this year, and will welcome the New Year a little more abundantly,” he added.

“What can be more important than opening presents this holiday season is the love everyone wishes for their families, friends, and those who need it. The holiday season is best enjoyed when it is not centered on decorations and festivities but when love is at its core,” he noted.

On top of the early distribution of the TUPAD payout, Detente’s congressional office also held a gift-giving program led by his son, Rodrigo “Rigor” Deterge II, who distributed Christmas presents to 8,860 barangay workers.

Rep. Duterte’s office said the gift-giving program was meant to give “everyone a merry Christmas despite all the heavy responsibilities and challenges everyone went through from the previous years.”
