ABS-CBN Film Restoration celebrates the legacy of esteemed actor and musical scorer Jaime Fabregas for his countless contributions to Philippine cinema by streaming his digitally-restored classics in the latest edition of its Sagip Pelikula Spotlight series this December, featuring the screening of Star Cinema’s 2010 comedy film Here Comes the Bride.
Jaime remains one of the withstanding figures in the industry as an acclaimed actor throughout his almost five-decade career. He was most notable for his acting works in various cinematic masterpieces, including Ganito Kami Noon… Paano Kayo Ngayon? and Oro, Plata, Mata, also most recently as General Delfin Borja in ABS-CBN’s longest-running action series FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano. Apart from his thespian work, he channeled his love for music onto film as a musical scorer, first working on the 1984 classic Misteryo sa Tuwa.
Alongside his passion for acting and music, Jaime is also one of Sagip Pelikula’s advocates in their cause of restoring Filipino classics – emphasizing that all works of art, including film, should be taken care of for future generations to appreciate.
“Film is a work of art… and all works of art should be archived and kept for future generations because they are made specifically for that. These films are not made for the ‘now.’ It is made for people to watch 20 to 25 years from now and learn from them,” Jaime shared in an interview with ABS-CBN Film Restoration head Leo Katigbak.
The latest edition of Sagip Pelikula Spotlight kicked off with the online premiere of the digitally-restored version of Here Comes the Bride, where Jaime also starred in and received nominations for it from the Golden Screen Awards and FAMAS Awards back in 2011.
Co-starring Angelica Panganiban, Eugene Domingo, Tuesday Vargas, and John Lapus, the story recounts a freak accident involving the bride-to-be Stephanie (Angelica) and four other individuals before her wedding. But the situation gets complicated and wackier as their souls interchange. For some, it may be a blessing in disguise, especially for the wedding stylist Toffee (John), who is now the newly-wedded bride. But for Stephanie, who’s switched to her feisty godmother Precy (Eugene), it’s a complete disaster.
Viewers today can catch the digitally-restored Here Comes the Bride, featuring a pre-show interview with Jaime himself, now streaming in the latest Sagip Pelikula Spotlight via KTX. Tickets are available at https://bit.ly/HCTBonKTX, priced at P150 each.
