RPMD: Marcos, Duterte, Cabinet officials score high in yearend survey

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte received high marks for approval and trust in a nationwide survey conducted by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation, Inc. (RPMD).

The RPMD’s “Boses ng Bayan” survey, conducted from November 27 to December 2, revealed that 83% of respondents were satisfied with President Marcos’ job performance. Eighty-one percent of those polled expressed approval of Vice President Duterte, who also serves as Education Secretary.

Most respondents also gave the duo high trust ratings, with 87% of respondents expressing trust in Duterte and 87% in Marcos.

The performance and credibility of both officials were rated highly across all regions and socioeconomic classes. The satisfaction rating details of Marcos resulted in being highest in Mindanao with 87% and lowest in Metro Manila with 73%. While Duterte’s satisfaction rating illustrated highest in Mindanao with 98% and lowest in the region of Luzon with 70%.

Dr. Paul Martinez, Executive Director of RPMD, reports that Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. ranks first with the highest approval of 78% and 83% trust rating among Cabinet secretaries.

He is trailed by Secretary Ivan John Uy of the Department of Information and Communications (DICT) with approval of 74% and 89% trust rating, Secretary Amenah Pangandaman of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) with 73% approval and 67% trust rating, Secretary Susan Ople of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) with 71% approval and 68% trust rating, Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco of the Department of Tourism (DOT) with 70% approval rating and 65% trust rating on the fifth place.

Secretary Enrique Manalo of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ranks sixth with 67% approval and 63% trust rating, pursued by Secretary Erwin Tulfo of the Department of Social and Welfare Development (DSWD) with 65% approval and 70% trust rating.

Secretary Jaime Bautista of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) ranked 8th with 63% approval and a 60% trust rating. Secretary Alfredo Pascual of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) was in the 9th position with 61% approval and a 58% trust rating. On the last place or 10th is former Justice Secretary, now Solicitor General Menardo Guevarra, with 58% approval and 65% trust rating.

RPMD survey also covered trust and performance ratings of other top government officials; Senate President Migz Zubiri established 56% approval and 59% trust rating.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez gathered 53% approval and a 55% trust rating. Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo got a low awareness score of 68% and a low approval score of 32%.

The RPMD “Boses ng Bayan” nationwide survey, which has a margin of error of +/- one percent, was non-commission and conducted independently using face-to-face interviews of 5,000 adults as respondents.
