Bataan Gov. Joet Garcia predicted “tremendous opportunities” in digital technology with the province’s hosting of a two-day First Global Blockchain Summit.
The governor said blockchain technology would pave way for the promotion of digital economy.
A known modern technology user and proponent of cashless transactions, the governor said Bataan “is ready to be a leader in the government sector in promoting the blockchain technology.
He said the province was also prepared to host companies engaged in the technology.
Resource speakers at the summit defined blockchain technology as a “structure that stores transactional records, also known as the block, of the public in several databases, known as the ‘chain’ in a network connected through peer-to-peer nodes.”
Garcia saw the event as auspicious to gather in one place key players in the field to apprise the public on how the emerging technology can offer new economic opportunities and uplift the people’s quality of life.

The experts expressed confidence that blockchain technology would be the future and could ignite global industrial revolution.
