This holiday season, Araneta City brings joy and nostalgia with the lighting of its iconic 100-ft Christmas tree and the revival of the Christmas on Display (COD) and Fiesta Carnival.
The City of Firsts held a star-studded festivity on October 28 to kick off its “Christmas Like No Other” celebration.
The giant Christmas tree sparkles in mostly red and gold colors to suit the carnival theme—adorned with 3,000 pieces LED bulbs, 2,000 pieces Christmas balls, 100 pieces hot air balloon ornaments, 1,000 pieces pine garlands, and other Christmas ornaments.
“We Filipinos certainly know how to turn this season into the most wonderful time of the year. Our celebration stands out from the rest in the world because of how long and festive our observance is. And Araneta City’s four-decade tradition of lighting its giant Christmas tree is clearly a testament to this distinctively-Pinoy mark in celebrating the holidays,” said Marjorie Go, AVP for Marketing of Araneta City.
The event featured performances of celebrities Vice Ganda, KD Estrada and Alexa Ilacad, as well as Kice and Khimo Gumatay of Idol Philippines Season 2. Robi Domingo and Samantha Bernardo hosted the event that was graced by Araneta City executives, Quezon City officials, and Binibining Pilipinas queens.
The lighting of the giant Christmas tree has been an annual tradition of Araneta City since 1981.
Apart from the giant Christmas tree—an annual tradition since 1981—two classic Christmas attractions in Araneta City, the Christmas on Display (COD) and Fiesta Carnival, will make an exciting comeback this year.
The COD will feature life-size animated mannequins portraying the classic story of the Nativity while Fiesta Carnival, once a popular indoors amusement theme park, will showcase modern carnival rides and attractions.
“Araneta City is a place of memorable Christmas nostalgia. As we revive COD and Fiesta Carnival that the batang 70s to 90s used to enjoy, we want the City of First to bring the most joy and excitement to people, even to the younger generations. There’s definitely no Christmas like no other than in Araneta City, the City of Firsts,” Go said.
Araneta City’s Christmas on Display and Fiesta Carnival will open in November.
Novotel Manila Araneta City, on the other hand, will offer its merriest discounts through its My Novotel Manila Boutique, with up to 45 percent off the hotel’s most popular products.
“The holiday season is the ideal time to create memories with the people we love. The Novotel Manila Araneta City’s hallmark motif for this year—a merry magical time—brings the magic of the season to life as we reunite. Our restaurants are open, our offers for delivery complete, ample and good value, and our team is ready to welcome you all safely and cordially to stage for an exclusive celebration,” said Erwin Doña III, Novotel Manila’s Director of Marketing Communications.
