CAAP to travelers: Behave at airports

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Friday asked air travelers to observe discipline and proper behavior inside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and other airport terminals in the country.

The agency reminded passengers at its terminals that it will not tolerate acts of improper behavior within its facilities that may compromise safety and security.

This comes after a video of a man using the public address (PA) system of an airline in Pagadian Airport went viral on social media. The man in the now-deleted video, who was caught blurting expletives using the PA system, has since apologized to the airline concerned.

CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said the agency would like to maintain the nature of airport terminals as safe and respectful spaces for all its passengers.

In Manila, the airport management is implementing a measure dubbed #DisipliNAIA to combat unacceptable behavior at terminals.

The campaign aimed to encourage people to become good airport citizens and to raise awareness about good manners and right conduct among all airport users – from MIAA employees and third-party partners to passengers, transport services, and even well-wishers.

Airport users are seeing posters, videos, and billboards to remind them that they are in the #DisipliNAIA zone, and as such must observe respect and mindfulness towards other people and towards airport facilities.
