PH slips 7 places in digital ranking

The Philippines’ ranking in the digital quality of life fell seven notches in 2022, according to a global research by information technology firm Surfshark Ltd.

The country ranked 55th of 117 countries in the 2022 Digital Quality of Life Index, pulled down by its worst scores in Internet affordability. The Philippines ranked 48th out of 110 countries in 2021.

It said of the five fundamental digital life pillars, the Philippines’s worst score was for internet affordability (ranking 98th globally), while its best score was for e-security (44th).

It ranked 45th in internet quality services, 62nd in e-government and 65th e-infrastructure.

The Philippines’ weakest spot was internet affordability, which should improve by 4300 percent to match the best-ranking country’s result (Israel).
