As a multi-talented celebrity and host, Billy Crawford owes most of his career to GMA Network. He made regular appearances on an afternoon television show on the network called That’s Entertainment. While there, he formed a special connection with the late German Moreno, also known as Kuya Germs and Master Showman.
It shows that Billy brought some of Kuya Germs’ influence on him no matter where he went or what he did. After all, he’s a well-loved TV show host, with appearances on It’s Showtime, Your Face Sounds Familiar, and Pilipinas Got Talent, to name a few.
However, for several years, Billy left his original network to look for greener pastures. Although he had a good run, fate found a way to bring him back to GMA. This time, he lends his hosting prowess to the new game show, The Wall Philippines.
Despite being away from the network for some time, Billy still feels welcome and considers GMA his home. He even shared that, for him, it just felt like his home underwent a renovation, and now it’s time for him to return.
“Noong pumasok ako, noong unang araw pa lang nagpo-promo shoots kami diyan sa GMA Building. Tumingin ako, nakasarado na pala pero doon lang yung nagre-rehearse kami para sa That’s Entertainment before. That was my home since I was four years old,” Billy shared.
He added that this collaboration between Viva and GMA to bring The Wall to a Philippine setting allowed him to work with anyone in the entertainment industry again, broadening his horizons as a host and artist.
Since he’s back with GMA, some people can’t help but wonder if this signifies his permanent return to the network and if he’ll sign with them as an artist. Yet Billy isn’t one to shackle himself from opportunities in his career. Instead, he follows the path his career takes him.
“Lahat naman may Kapamilya, Kapatid, Kapuso. Ako naman ay pambansang katrabaho,” Billy said. He clarified that this means he’s open to working with anyone who’s willing.
A prime example of how this setup works the best for Billy is his present situation with GMA and Viva. Since he’s a Viva artist, the collaboration between the two networks allowed him to work with both media entities.
Billy also remains thankful for TV5 for TropangLOL but is looking forward to how his return to GMA will play out.
Meanwhile, as a host, Billy shared that adjusting to new projects remains challenging in his career. He recalled that on the first day of shooting for The Wall Philippines, they finished at almost five in the morning, hinting they had a long adjustment period for the show.
“In any episode, ang pinakamahirap lang talaga is adjusting. Everyone worked so hard to make this work. At first, maninibago at maninibago ang mga tao pero, but at the end of the day, we felt at home, and we felt welcome, and we feel na sobrang saya namin,” he said.
The Wall Philippines premiered on August 28, Sunday, on GMA.
