‘Bolera’ performs its swan song

For actors, it’s always hard to say goodbye to a show especially when they’re leaving on good terms, or in the case of Kylie Padilla, when the project has left so much impact on her as a person and as an artist.

“From the time that the project was given to me, I already felt grateful. And the warm reception from the audience was just the reward. You see, I had uncertainties on my side at the beginning of the project because I was away for quite some time,” Kylie said of Bolera, her first project in three years.

She could only gush over her much-awaited showbiz comeback via the series where she steps into the role of Joni, a billiard prodigy who is gifted with visual and spatial intelligence.

The series, which trains the spotlight on women who can rise to the top and become champions with hard work, skill, and pure talent, premiered in May.

“And now that it has come to an end, I feel emotional. It’s my first time feeling this way—it’s so hard to let go of this series. I never had this feeling before,” the 29-year-old television star admitted having difficulty detaching herself from the series and the people that she’s worked with.

“It’s been a few months since we wrapped our taping and I think I have already moved on from Joni since I did another project after that, a movie with Gerald Anderson. But I have to admit that I really felt sad during our last taping day. We’re like a family on set so I’m going to miss everyone,” she went on.

Kylie underscores her role being a trailblazer—one who challenges the norms of society and shows the world that women can also excel in a man’s world.

“Because of Bolera, I have become picky on the roles that I’m going to portray. Well, actually since I became a mother, I made sure that I’d do projects that are really impactful. I don’t want to waste any time away from my children. Ibang klase ang Bolera specifically the way our director worked on it. And that’s something that I appreciate about this series. I never thought that I could still elevate my craft. Bolera made me realize that,” Kylie stated.

The primetime drama ends tonight on a high note, leaving a mark on its audience with colorful characters played by some of the seasoned and reliable actors in the industry today including Jak Roberto, Rayver Cruz, Gardo Versoza, Joey Marquez, Al Tantay, and Jaclyn Jose.

The original series also stars Via Veloso, Sue Prado, David Remo, Ge Villamil, and Luri Nalus.

Under the helm of esteemed directors Dominic Zapata and Jorron Lee Monroy, Bolera sings its swan song tonight on GMA Telebabad.
