Go Negosyo launches plan on COVID-19 booster jabs

Go Negosyo recently launched its “Isa Pa” campaign to support calls for booster vaccinations in the country.

“There really needs to be a concerted effort to tell Filipinos that booster vaccinations are necessary to protect our families, our friends, and our economy,” said Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion.

“We already achieved so much in reopening the economy. It’s time to work on sustaining what we have gained, and we can do that by reinforcing our wall of immunity,” he added.

The “Isa Pa” campaign emphasizes the importance of booster vaccinations to support the country’s MSMEs, including small vendors, drivers, and farmers.

Moreover, the business group believed that the project drives home the point that booster vaccinations also serve to reinforce the wall of protection around loved ones, especially the elderly and the young children in the family.

The Advisory Council of Experts (ACE), which comprise the country’s foremost authorities on medicine, public health, economics, and research and data analytics, emphasized need for COVID-19 boosters.

The authorities from ACE have reiterated that the data is clear on why primary vaccinations are insufficient to safeguard against COVID-19 and its variants, and that boosters restore protection to sufficient levels.

ACT Teachers Rep.  France Castro meanwhile raised concern over the “slow rollout” of vaccination among minors.

Citing reports as of March 17 of this year, Castro said 2.46 kids aged 5-11 and 9.7 million aged 12-17 minors have been fully vaccinated.

“Vaccination has been the most effective way to protect ourselves and our children from severe COVID-19 infection,” Castro said.

“Ramping up vaccine rollout for kids and minors in time for the government’s plan for 100% face-to-face classes will provide children extra protection from the virus,” she added.

Castro urged the Department of Health to also release updated numbers on the status of the vaccine rollout for kids and minors.

“The Department of Education should encourage parents to have their children vaccinated with information dissemination and assistance as to where they can get their vaccines,” she said. With Maricel Cruz
