John Roa makes surprise proposal to long-term partner at MV premiere

Finding someone who jives well with your personality, celebrates you at your best, and stays when you’re at your worst is a rare opportunity. Those lucky enough to find their ideal match in a person hold on to them since they plan to spend the rest of their lives together.

According to John’s mother, Raina has been his fan since he joined Pilipinas Got Talent when he was 12. She liked Raina because she continuously understood John’s quirks as an artist and supported him throughout his journey as a musician.

“Matagal ko ng pinagdadasal na makakita si John ng mamahalin. Gusto ko rin maranasan niya ang magkaroon ng pamilya ng maaga kasi I had him when I was 17. Pero nalampasan na niya kami kasi 23 na siya ngayon,” she said.

John seemingly followed his mother’s advice and was lucky to have met Raina early in his life. After six years of ups and downs, the smitten OPM artist finally popped the question last July 31, Saturday, at Trinoma Cinemas and received a resounding “yes.”

Like a true OPM artist, John expressed his feelings and intentions through his new song “Natagpuan.” He planned the proposal during his first music video premiere, leaving Raina speechless and emotional.

Despite the heavy rains, which caused heavy traffic throughout the metro, John’s former group members, Ex Battalion, attended the momentous event.

“Hindi naman sila nagmamadali na magpakasal agad kasi nag-propose na. Baka mga 25 or 26 pa [ikasal]. Nag-promise lang sila sa isa’t isa na sila lang talaga…pero masaya ako na magkakaroon na si John ng sariling pamilya,” John’s mother added.

Some of John’s friends from Cebu also flew in to witness another milestone in his life and career.

John composed the song “Natagpuan” with Raina in mind, dedicating the lyrics, emotion, and music video to her.

Eventually, it led him toward a 90s approach, and being a fan of the era’s music, John decided to go with it. Yet Raina wasn’t completely oblivious about the song. As an artist, she is privy to John’s songs and vice versa. John even shared that Raina was happy upon hearing the completed track.

“Natagpuan” boasts of 90s vibes that are nostalgic and heartfelt but with a catchy tune.

In the song, he talks about how he found a home in Raina and how she changed his life. If that’s not enough to profess his love, John also used symbolism to show that he hears wedding bells in their future as a couple.

Aside from the all-white outfits and backdrop in several scenes, there were flowers around the set to mimic an intimate setting. Raina was also present in many instances throughout the video.

John shared they didn’t encounter any challenges while shooting the music video. The production went as smoothly as possible, and they all had a good time filming on set.

The music video for “Natagpuan” is now available on John Roa’s YouTube channel.
