After a nearly two-year hiatus of Blackpink, netizens expressed their delight when Blackpink’s Jennie finally showed her appearance on the upcoming series to be uploaded on HBO entitled The Idol. Her initial emergence was on the first trailer video presented at The Weeknd’s show last night on July 16, with low-quality screenshots from netizens uploaded online. On July 17, HBO and The Weeknd released the official trailer on Youtube.
YG Entertainment confirmed that the K-pop idol is officially a cast member of HBO’s The Idol along with Troy Sivan, Lily Rose-Depp, Debby Ryan, and more actors. The Weeknd created the series with the creator of Euphoria, Sam Levinson. It’s where Lily will act as a pop singer and The Weeknd as an enigmatic cult leader developing romance.
According to YG Entertainment’s confirmation, Jennie shared her views of the series.
“As soon as I read the scenario, I thought [that] the story was very charming, [and] so I wanted to be a part of it. I’m excited, and [I’ll] do my best, so I hope [that] everyone will tune in warmly,” Jennie relayed through her label.
There is no official date yet for the release of the said series.
