Cavitex announces toll adjustment with opening of flyover extension

Cavitex Infrastructure Corp., a unit of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., said Friday it will implement a toll adjustment once the extended C5 Link flyover (3A2) opens by July 16 this year.

“When we open 3A2, the toll rates will be from P22 to P37,” said MPTC chief financial officer Christopher Lizo.

The flyover extension will extend Cavitex C5 Link’s 2.2-kilometer operational segment that spans from Merville to Taguig, with an additional 1.6 km., providing motorists more convenient access to and from Taguig, Pasay and Paranaque and helping decongest nearby roads.

The company is charging P22 for the 2.2-kilometer stretch of Cavitex C5 Link Flyover.

Once opened, the Merville entry/exit ramps will be relocated to the new segment in front of Shell C5 Southlink. A service tunnel road will also be opened to the public to manage the traffic of motorists coming from West Service Road going to Merville, Pasay and Parañaque.

CIC is on its last leg of works for the segment, installing traffic signage to guide motorists on the new traffic flow in the area upon opening. It will also install traffic signals for better traffic management.

The company said the construction for Cavitex C5 Link Segment 2 (Cavitex to Sucat Interchange) continues in full swing and reached more than 30-percent completion.

“The Cavitex C5 Link will span a total of 7.7 km. and connect to Cavitex in 2023. This will help reduce travel time by 30 to 45 for motorists traveling from Cavitex to Makati, Taguig and Pasay (vice versa). This project also helps decongest major thoroughfares such as EDSA, MIA Road, etc. benefitting around 50,000 motorists daily,” said CIC president and general manager Raul Ignacio.

CIC said that in preparation for the opening, it would intensify campaign to encourage motorists to avail of Easytrip RFID for more seamless travel.

“We continue to offer free RFID installation and reloading at our customer service stations in Cavitex and Cavitex C5 Link. They may also conveniently reload and monitor our expressways’ traffic conditions by using our latest app, MPT DriveHub. With the help of the app and by using their RFIDs, they would be able to avoid long queues at the cash lane and have a more seamless travel in our expressways,” Ignacio said.
