Four years ago, musician and occasional actor Kean Cipriano had a vision of launching his own record label that would serve as a haven for music artists who wanted to own their career growth and have creative control over their material and professional pursuit. Thus, he as the chairman and chief executive officer, with wife Chynna Ortaleza as vice president for production and talent development, Cipriano established O/C Records.
“It’s worth the gamble,” Cipriano said during the label’s anniversary celebration held on June 15 at Take Over Lounge in Xavierville, Quezon City.
The former Callalily frontman was referring to the statement he told Manila Standard Entertainment four years ago on the business risk that he had to take just to give artists full creative control.
“I want them to experience that once in their careers as professional musicians they got to do what they want and showcase their art. I grew up in an era where you get to know the artists based on their albums. And that’s what I would like to do…introduce these great and talented artists,” Cipriano said.
“And now, we’re able to produce more than 300 titles and launched the careers of some exciting names in the music industry. I guess, the gamble we made when we launched the label four years ago was all worth it,” he carried on.
As home to artists carrying odd and eminent flair, O/C Records, celebrates its fourth anniversary in the industry. Established in 2018 as the home of “odd creatures” O/C Records has made strides—delivering remarkable artistic stories in their odd fashion way through a musical force brought about varying creatives in the music scene.
Since its inception, O/C Records has come to be the fastest-rising music company in the Philippines.
“We are fortunate to be surrounded by amazing pioneer artists. We want to discover more talents and expand our business,” Cipriano said.
Evincing a fervor to transport notable artistic stories through the power of music, O/C Records has been a cradle to breakthrough OPM stars such as singer-songwriters Unique, Adie, and mrld—new creatives who came to prominence as they auspiciously produce music of our time.
By the same token, the artist house has also become the home of digital creatives and content creators like Mimiyuuuh, Dora, and Gwy Saludes—artists who have proven the glaring outturn of peculiar art.
O/C Records gave birth to a couple of remarkable top artists in the music industry today, such as Arthur Nery and Rice Lucido—OPM talents who have crafted laudable music and are indeed worthy of a spotlight in today’s various hit playlists.
On top of such achievements, O/C Records blissfully presents upcoming stars who are set to make their unique mark in the OPM industry, such as Kenaniah and Sean Oquendo.
The record label also evolved into managing the careers of actors and directors such as Gold Aceron and Kris Cazin—creatives who amplify and bring color to the wide range of memoirs that O/C Records has been offering to people from all walks of life.
In its four-year run, O/C Records has set the roots of a music label that nourishes the creative freedom of artists—presenting an unorthodox style of delivering prolific stories.
