Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna is expected to succeed Francisco Domagoso as the next Manila mayor as partial returns suggested she has won more than half the votes cast, with nearly 100 percent of election returns transmitted Monday night.
With 90.32 percent of Manila’s election returns transmitted, Lacuna got 485,539 votes, followed by Alex Lopez – 151,334; Amado Bagatsing – 103,413; Christy Lim – 13,468; and Elmer Jamias – 3,579.
Incumbent San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora is poised for a second three-year term.
Zamora, running under the ruling PDP-Laban party, gathered 66,054 votes, against his opponent Jun Usman, who has 9,330 votes.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto is assured of re-election with a landslide victory with 82.52 percent of election returns transmitted.
According to data from Comelec’s transparency server, Sotto got 276,557 votes, while his rival Vice Mayor Iyo Bernardo got 37,953.
Former Pasig Rep. Dodot Jaworski, Sotto’s ally, is leading the vice-mayoral race with 169,523 votes, followed by Pasig Councilor Mario “Junjun” Concepcion Jr with 72,429 votes, and former Councilor Christian Sia with 62,196.
Incumbent Mayor Abby Binay led Makati City’s mayoral race by at least 206,000. Her lone opponent Joel Hernandez garnered 10,344 votes, based on 64.23 percent of Comelec’s election returns.
Binay’s running mate and vice mayoralty bet Monique Lagdameo was also leading with 217,852 votes, while competitor Kuya Rod Biolena logged 15,688.
Incumbent Mayor Joy Belmonte led Quezon City’s mayoral race by over 190,000 votes, partial and unofficial results from Comelec showed Monday night.
As of 9:02 p.m., Belmonte has 527,639 votes, leading among 9 candidates for the post based on 79.74 percent of Comelec’s election returns.
Michael Defensor placed second with 333,828 votes, followed by Glenda Araneta with 3,454 votes.
In Mandaluyong, all candidates of the Abalos family appeared set for victory. Former mayor Benjamin Abalos Sr. was poised to return as the city’s chief executive while his daughter-in-law, incumbent Mayor Menchie Abalos, is set to win as vice mayor after running unopposed.
Davao City winners
President Rodrigo Duterte’s children led the local election race in the family’s stronghold Davao City, partial and unofficial data from the Commission on Elections showed on Monday night.
Hugpong ng Pagbabago’s Sebastian Duterte led the mayoral race in Davao City with 482,391 votes, a huge gap from contender Ruy Elias Lopez at 53,087, based on 76.19 percent of election results transmitted, as of 9:17 pm.
J. Melchor Quitain, running unopposed for the vice-mayoralty race, has 424,090 votes.
Paolo Duterte led the congressional race in the city’s first legislative district with 191,617 votes, far from Mags Maglana who so far has 12,851 votes.
Magalong in Baguio
Incumbent Mayor Benjie Magalong looked set to return as Baguio City mayor.
As of 9:02 p.m., Magalong has 60,362 votes while his closest rival Mauricio Domogan garnered 45,400 votes, based on 85.35 percent of Comelec’s election returns.
The other mayoralty candidates, Edison Bilog and Jeffrey Pinic, had 10,200 and 282 votes, respectively.
Garcia in Cebu
Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia is poised to get three more years in office with 904,353 votes.
She leads by a wide margin over former tourism secretary Ace Durano, who got 216,859 votes.
