PDP won’t endorse ex-DAR chief’s Senate bid

For supporting the presidential bid of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan could no longer endorse ex-Department of Agrarian Reform chief John Castriciones, who is seeking a senatorial seat in the May 9 polls.

At a weekly forum organized by the PDP-Laban at B Hotel in Quezon City, senatorial bet Astra Pimentel said; “We all know that the party has its constitution that all of its members should support the party’s stand. Pending talks about Castriciones, there is still no final decision. We know that he is standing in the other stage. We know that the PDP-Laban supports the BBM-Sara tandem.”

Castriciones, a PDP-Laban senatorial bet, shifted his support to presidential aspirant Manila Mayor Isko Moreno of Aksyon Demokratiko.

Pimentel earlier said Castriciones filed his certificate of nomination and acceptance using the PDP-Laban, and that the party was left with no choice but to still include him in the senatorial lineup.

Another senatorial aspirant, Salvador Panelo, said “it is only logical that … because his position is not that of the party’s stand.”

“He (Castriciones) could no longer join us. I guess he understands that. We want to respect his decision. That is his personal preference. We need to respect one another,” he added.

Meanwhile, groups supporting the vice presidential bid of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte — Run Sara Run and Sara Super Coalition of Volunteers Group  — also vowed to deliver votes for presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
