The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) on Friday vowed to continue rehabilitation efforts in Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, regardless of the observance of Ramadan and the upcoming elections.
Meanwhile, a landmark bridge that would connect Marawi to Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro City, was turned over to the local government on April 22.
Dr. Mamintal Bombit Alonto Adiong Jr., governor of Lanao del Sur, credited the completion of the Cadayonan Bridge to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) under Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Al-Hadj Murad Ibrahim.
DHSUD Secretary Eduardo del Rosario, head of Task Force Bangon Marawi, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to push to completion several ongoing projects in Marawi by June 30.
He said four more barangay complexes each equipped with health center and madrasah were turned over to the local government last April 21.
“We remain on track to complete substantial number of the infrastructure projects by the end of the term of President Rodrigo Duterte,” he noted.
During Wednesday’s briefing update, Padoman Paporo, lead convenor of the CSO Convergence tapped as third-party monitor of the rehabilitation efforts, noted” “aggressive” work in most of the projects inside the most affected area.
The newly completed barangay complexes were in Bangolo, East Marinaut, Dansalan and Lumbac Madaya – bringing to 13 the total number of such facilities to be completed inside the most affected area.
