Taguig City has built 19 multi-purpose community centers to serve as venue for government services, communal space, sports and recreational activities and evacuation center.
The buildings, according to Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano, also house MRFs or Material Recovery Facility to keep the city’s environment and communities clean.
Last April 13, the local government opened a three-storey multipurpose building in Rockyside, Bagumbayan, one of the community centers, which will make government services more accessible for the people.
This facility has a fully furnished common area and a lounge area for community groups, meetings, activities, events, and other functions.
The area will also serve as a Government Satellite Office, where City Hall services such as the issuance of burial and financial assistance may be processed.
“A Child Development Center can also be found here, which can serve as a daycare center for young Taguigeños. Clean restrooms for men, women, and PWDs (persons with disability) are also available,” Cayetano said.
“On top of these features, there is also a court for sports such as basketball, volleyball, zumba, and yoga for those looking to keep themselves fit and healthy,” he added.
Policemen and village watchmen would be deployed to the area to maintain peace and order.
Mayor Cayetano said as Taguig continuously adapts to the new normal and promising government officers are set to govern the city, residents may expect more infrastructures with similar features that will serve the community’s needs.
He said that while reaching the RoadToZero COVID-19 campaign, Taguig would continuously extend its effort to make infrastructures that will serve many purposes, including rooms for evacuation and emergencies.
“These infrastructure projects are proof that despite the pandemic, Taguig continues to log successes, which benefit our constituents in short and the long run,” he said.
