AirAsia posts 93% rise in passenger traffic

AirAsia Philippines said Monday it flew 33,917 passengers in the Holy Week, up 93 percent from the same period in 2021.

The recent increase in volume of passengers, however, was still 35-percent below the average pre-COVID passenger traffic observed in 2019, the airline said.

AirAsia said it recorded an average load factor of 88 percent for all destinations. Top summer destinations which contributed to the increase in load factor were Cebu with 92 percent, Caticlan-Boracay with 84 percent, Panglao with 92 percent and Puerto Princesa with 91 percent.

“The numbers are very encouraging and a great indicator that indeed, we are now right on the path to recovery. Our guests’ hunger for travel really dictated the pace, especially this past Holy Week,” AirAsia Philippines spokesperson Steve Dailisan said.

“We hope to sustain the growth leading to next month where more are expected to return to the provinces to exercise their right to suffrage,” he said.
