Two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle shot a lawyer from the Bureau of Customs along Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City on Monday night.
The victim was identified as lawyer Joseph Samuel Zapata, 30, a resident of San Isidro in Paranaque City. Several Customs employees have been attacked recently, most of whom died.
According to a report by Sam Neilsen on Super Radyo dzBB, the shooting happened near the MET Live shopping mall in Barangay 76 around 6 p.m.
Zapata was inside his Toyota Fortuner with plate number TP-7726 when suspects opened fire and fled the scene.
The lawyer was then rushed to Manila Doctors Hospital for medical treatment.
Another car with plate number MBT-253, driven by Windy Lane Ochoco from Bicutan, Taguig City was damaged in the incident.
According to police, the lawyer was heading south when the gunmen riding a motorcycle shot the left portion of the victim’s vehicle, injuring the back of Zapata’s head.
The shooting led to the victim’s SUV hitting another car.
Authorities are still investigating the possible motive of the shooting, the identification of the suspects, and the motorcycle that was used.
Last February, a grenade was thrown at the gate of the bureau’s headquarters in Manila.
