The Manila Health Department (MHD) launched on Wednesday its exclusive school sites for pediatric vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 years old as the city government intensifies its inoculation program against COVID-19.

The MHD eyes more than a thousand children to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in the  four exclusive school sites in Manila identified as Earnshaw Elementary School, with 200 children; Epifanio Delos Santos Elementary School, with 300 children;  A. Lacson Elementary School, with 300 children; and Isabelo Delos Reyes Elementary School, with 500 children.

The children will be given their first dose of the vaccines.

The Philippine government commenced last February its pilot implementation of COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 years old through the “Resbakuna Kids” campaign.

The government said the drive would be implemented in phases, utilizing both hospital-based and local government unit (LGU)-based vaccination sites, to maximize accessibility to the general public.

The Philippine government aims to vaccinate more than 70 million Filipinos nationwide against the Covid-19 virus.
