For Manila’s Generation X, Aga Muhlach is the major dreamboat. And all men and women hold dearly in the deepest pockets of their hearts, a special memory of the man whose real name is Ariel.
Since his first silver screen appearance in the classic coming-of-age movie of the middle-class Maryo delos Reyes’ Bagets, to his most current project, the feel-good reality show Bida Kayo Kay Aga (with its initial telecast on March 26, 7:00 p.m. on NET 25), Muhlach’s adoring GenX public, are forever amused and yes, the husband of Charlene Gonzales, and the father of the wonder twins, Andres and Atasha continue to enchant and enthrall.
We love Muhlach for his most obvious physical attributes – round expressive eyes, bewit dimples that beguile, boyish charms, a face that always looks oh-so-handsome in photographs, and the sexy man hidden inside his current dad bod state.
Falling in love with him, I mean the characters he gave life on screen, is as easy as one, two, three. With the sweetest smile and true love’s kiss with the finest examples of leading ladies namely Mikee Cojuanco, Regine Velasquez, and Lea Salonga, all having the Aga Muhlach romantic onscreen experience.
Real-life matter-of-the-heart episodes with Janice de Belen, Aiko Melendez, Ms. Universe 1993 Dayanara Torres, and Charlene Mae Muhlach, with its legendary twists and turns can out plot a paperback novel that makes the collective hearts flutter.
We believed and rooted for his characters, in his commitment and the emotional truth he gave in all his movies, whether it’s a drama, romantic comedy or a thriller. We even remember movie moments he shared with the late great Nida Blanca in Miguelito, Vilma Santos in Nag-Iisang Bituin and Sinungaling Mong Puso, Maricel Soriano and Angelica Panginiban in A Love Story, Kristine Hernosa in All My Life, and of course, the most iconic were, becoming Jerry in Sana’y Maulit Muli and Tommy in Bakit Labis Kitang Mahal with Salonga and as Andrew, Vince and Jimboy, the three men he perfectly portrayed in the movies with Velasquez.
Now, a different facet of him is guaranteed to seen in Bida Kayo Kay Aga. Muhlach and his team will scour the metropolis to find everyday heroes whose lives can be a source of inspiration to many.
The dramatic actor believes that this show is his modest way of paying it forward to the people who are all instrumental in giving him the successes that he reached.
The fact that he’ll get not only to meet, but converse with this modern day champions, Muhlach declares: “I am nervous and excited. You know, talking to them, hearing their stories, it feels good. There is so much negativity now and letting the audiences aware that there are quiet victors doing good in a community or within their family, these are human interest stories that must be made public.”
He carries on: “Natutuwa naman sila to see me. I don’t think they are star struck kasi ako naman that celebrity thing never goes in my head. Even though I reached for the stars, my feet are always on the ground. Sharing a small amount of time with our chosen man of the hour, yung buhay nila talaga ang dapat ma-i-highlight and yes, what they do must not only get a round of applause or congratulations, they must be celebrated.”
Real life lion hearts plus Aga Muhlach, now you know why Bida Kayo Kay Aga is a television must see.
