Manila Broadcasting Company has launched the second edition of its short film competition, which aims to attract entries for short features, documentaries, and animated works.
Aimed at celebrating the extraordinary creative energy of Filipino filmmakers nationwide, the 2022 MBC Short Film Festival (MSFF) is now accepting entries from filmmakers around the country, who can show in 20 minutes or less, a human interest story based on real-life characters/situations, highlighting acts of kindness and compassion.
A top-rate panel of jurors from the United Kingdom, Canada, France, the United States, and the Philippines will be on board to select fifteen films that will qualify for the final competition, which will run from July 15 to August 5.
Each finalist will receive a cash incentive of P20,000, with the three category winners getting P100,000 each and vying for the Grand Prix, with a total take-home prize of P200,000 net of tax. A special award for Viewers’ Choice will be given P25,000. The 2022 MBC Short Film Festival is the centerpiece of the anniversary celebrations of MBC’s flagship station DZRH, which has been serving the public since it first went on the air in 1939.
Having been the frontrunner in radio dramas and documenting history as it unfolds via its news and public affairs division, MBC-DZRH now hopes to contribute a digital platform for Filipino filmmakers to share their works with the world at large.
The deadline for submission of entries is on May 20. Detailed requirements are available on the official website: www.mbcfilmfest.com and will also be posted on the MBC Short Film Festival Facebook page. For further inquiries, email: [email protected]
