Laguna journalists hold ‘meet the press’ event

The Camp Vicente Lim Press Corps (CVLPC) recently conducted a Meet the Press event led by Roy Tomandao on February 4 in Sta. Maria, Laguna.

The event aims to give candidates running for local posts the chance to inform residents of their platforms and programs if they win in the upcoming elections in May.

Members of the press club also had the chance to filed their questions especially on issues of peace and order, health and sanitation, senior citizens concerns, disasters preparedness, infrastructures, and tourism among others.

MEET THE PRESS IN LAGUNA. Members of the Camp Vicente Lim Press Corps held a “Meet the Press “event for local candidates in Sta. Maria, Laguna. The event aims to give candidates running for local posts the chance to inform residents of their platforms and programs if they win in the upcoming elections in May.

Mayorial aspirant Jayson Cuento said if he succeeds in becoming the mayor of their town, he will allocate funds to ensure the welfare of all citizens.

“We will focus on providing services in the field of tourism to better get to know our town’s famous places that some of our compatriots may not know yet. It will also help entrepreneurs recover from the slowdown in their business now that there is a pandemic,” Cuento said.

According to CVLPC head Tomandao, many aspiring politicians have joined the challenge to answer questions that may be relevant in their respective areas.

“This is the way for us journalists to know the agenda of those who will run in the May elections,” Tomandao said.

He added that “every party or candidate has the right to be a guest at Meet the Press so that everyone has the opportunity to be recognized by people through radio, TV, newspapers and Facebook pages carried by legit media members and the CVLPC.

Mayorial aspirant Cuento, Vice Mayorial aspirant Jovan Caisip and the members of the “Serbisyon Walang Hangganan” team meanwhile thanked all the media who attended the said program. Cuento’s party also thanked the CVLPC members for making the event live on Facebook and social media pages and for being featured in their respective newspapers.
