Say ‘thank you’ through tips—foodpanda now has rider tipping feature

In this new normal, food delivery riders are modern-day heroes, working day and night to deliver our favorite meals quickly and safely to our doorsteps.

They come in all shapes and sizes too—some ride on motorcycles, some on bikes or e-scooters, and some even deliver on foot!

Traversing our streets is already a challenge, let alone with food deliveries in tow, so these delivery heroes deserve a hero’s welcome—and a big thank you—from us customers.

For users of leading online food delivery platform foodpanda, the perfect way of saying “thanks kuya/ate rider” is now available on their app: rider tipping! Customers can now easily tip any amount to their riders when they order from foodpanda via credit card or e-wallet.

According to foodpanda Philippines managing director Daniel Marogy, this is one of the company’s ways of showing gratitude to their riders and giving their customers the opportunity to also show some love.

“Our Ka-Panda riders are at the heart of foodpanda’s service, and they are the ones that our customers interact with the most,” Marogy noted. “We want to give our customers a convenient way to tip their riders even through cashless transactions, and we likewise want to make it easy for our hardworking riders to receive these tokens.”

Just like placing an order through the app, giving a tip on foodpanda is fast and easy, as users simply need to input the amount before checking out their order. According to Marogy, the rider tipping feature was launched just in time for the holidays last December, and the feature is here to stay.

What’s more, 100% of the tips go to the riders’ accounts, as even the transaction fees for transferring the amounts will be shouldered by foodpanda. “We are one with our customers in saying “thank you” to our thousands of Ka-Panda riders all over the country, and we will continue to find new ways of showing our appreciation,” Marogy said.
