Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano of Pasay has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time.
The Pasay City public information office (PIO) also said Calixto-Rubiana found out that she caught COVID-19 after she experienced a sore throat and had herself tested for the virus.
The Pasay City chief executive was infected with COVID-19 in February 2021. She is now in isolation in a health facility.
It is not known if Calixto-Rubiano was infected with Omicron, or the other earlier COVID-19 variants. The Pasay PIO further said Calixto-Rubiano will continue working, while in isolation.
Metro Manila is experiencing a surge, which authorities said, was due to relaxed COVID-19 restrictions during the holidays.
